Annual Mass for our deceased parishioners 2018

The Annual Mass for our deceased parishioners and particularly those who died during the past year will be celebrated on Sunday 4th November at 12noon. The names of those parishioners who died during the year will be called in prayer and a representative from each family will be invited to place a candle, provided by the Parish, before the Altar in Loving Remembrance. May They rest in peace.

Families are welcome to bring a framed photograph of their loved one who has died during the year and to place it on a special table in the Altar area at the beginning of the mass in Loving Remembrance. Families are kindly requested to collect their photograph after mass together with one of the special memorial candles.

Maura Doran R.I.P.

It was with great sadness that the death of Maura Doran was announced at the 10am Mass on Wednesday 22nd August, 2018.   Maura, who had been our Sacristan for sixteen years until 2016, had died in the Mater Hospital, after a long illness, borne with great faith and courage and lovingly supported by all her family – her sister-in-law Pat, her nieces and nephews and extended family and her many friends from the parish of Christ the King, Cabra.

Maura was a very kind, generous and thoughtful person. She was hardworking and full of wisdom and her dedication to the Church was inspiring. Maura had a great personality and loved to laugh over a cup of tea and had a wonderful way of making people feel special. Maura was very close to her family and friends and many people cared deeply for her. Maura positively influenced the lives of so many and will be sadly missed.

Maura’s remains were received at the Church of Christ the King on Thursday 23rd August by Canon Patrick Carroll, Fr. Tom O’Shaughnessy, Fr. Gregory O’Brien P.P. Willington Parish and Fr. John Greene formerly Parish Priest of Most Precious Blood Parish. John Walsh and Eleanor McManus Co-Sacristans, and Suzanne Moore Parish Secretary who always appreciated Maura’s personal kindness and understanding were also present. Maura’s Funeral Mass was concelebrated by Bishop Paul Tighe, Canon Patrick Carroll, Fr. Tom O’Shaughnessy, Fr. Jim Fingleton and the Reverend Damien Murphy acted as Deacon.

Maura had great devotion to Our Blessed Lady and died on the Feast of the Queenship of Mary.   For many years Maura co-ordinated the arrangements for our Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Apart from her duties as Sacristan she gave voluntarily of her time to many aspects of Parish life and Parish committees. Maura always showed great courtesy in dealing with the various queries and requests from parishioners and created a very welcoming atmosphere in the parish. Maura greatly supported the priests in their ministry and also our former Parish Sisters. Her generous hospitality to the priests of the parish and visiting priests was legendary. As we continue to keep Maura in our prayers we extend our sympathies to her bereaved family and friends.

May her gentle and hospitable Soul Rest in the Peace of the Risen Lord.
